Designed by Yves Béhar and funded via Kickstarter, the Android-powered OUYA game console is on its way to retail. Initially seeking a mere $950,000 USD in order for production to get underway, OUYA ultimately garnered nearly $9 million USD in pledged support from heavyweight backers like Square Enix, OnLive, Namco Bandai, iHeartRadio, XBMC, VEVO, Indies, Robotoki, Plex and many more.
Founder and CEO Julie Uhrman and OUYA announced an “official” launch date of June 4, 2013 while Kickstarter backers will themselves receive units as early as this month – thus allowing for a beta test of sorts and subsequent tweaks to any potential issues prior to June’s widespread release. Clocking in at about the size of a Rubik’s Cube and boasting an NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core CPU with 1080p HD output and 1GB of RAM – not to mention a bevy of free, downloadable games – OUYA can be pre-ordered now via Amazon for just $99 USD.
Originally introduced in the latter part of 2007, the Nissan GT-R has long been considered the pinnacle of affordable performance thanks to its relatively modest $100,000 USD price tag – merely a fraction of what automobiles with similar capabilities typically cost. With a premium Track Edition already on tap for a debut this May, Nissan made headlines at this year’s auto show in New York by hinting at big things for the future of the powerful speed demon.
Speaking at the show, Nissan North America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing Jose Munoz teased attendees by saying “… stay tuned later this year for news that will electrify our legions of GT-R fans worldwide” – seemingly hinting at a hybrid system for future iterations of the GT-R. Sources within the automotive industry have long hinted that the GT-R of the future would receive a hybrid powertrain – speculation that appears ever-more likely given that Nissan will run an electric car with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System next year at Le Mans. Stay tuned for further info as Nissan’s beloved supercar appears to be the next in line for the hybrid treatment.
REAL or FOOLED for the “World’s Most RIDICULOUSLY STUPID expensive chain?”
Kid CuDi is back in the news again but this time its not a new track but instead news of his imminent departure from G.O.O.D. Music. Announcing the news on Los Angeles radio station Power 106, CuDi made it clear that the split with Kanye West was an amicable one:
“Me and Kanye were actually talking on the phone the other day… About me wanting to start my own direction, and he got because he’s trying to start his own new path, and trying new things as an artist. And he was just like ‘Man, I feel you. It’s cool.’ This is just from a business standpoint. There’s no beef with anyone on the label. It’s all love.”
So its all about the love and growing into a different path. Much respect to those two for being a gentlemen about it!
